If you’re looking for a job that will give you a great career path, you should check out the best companies to work for. American Express is number one on this list, but there are plenty of other top companies to consider. IBM, Google, St. Jude Medical, and Apple are also excellent choices. These companies are well-known for their culture and work environment. But what makes them stand out from the rest?

IBM

In 1993, IBM was a “dead man walking” on Wall Street, but its employees remained engaged. The company’s recent report, “IBM 2020: How the company relates to its workers,” highlights the data gathered by Just Capital. In fact, IBM was named the world’s most fair and inclusive company by this organization, but we’ll skip that discussion for the moment. SAP, on the other hand, shares its data freely and is more transparent than IBM.

Another distinguishing characteristic of IBM is its work environment. It encourages individuality by providing equal opportunities for everyone. This is an industry first. Employees don’t need to work nine hours a day – they can take breaks at any time. The company values efficient work, but doesn’t punish the individual for not working 9 hours a day. The company is also known to give its employees two days off a week, including holidays for most major festivals and the holiday season. In fact, IBM employees can take as many as twenty days of vacation every year.

St. Jude Medical

In 2018, FORTUNE magazine ranked St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital among the “100 Best Companies to Work For” list. The list honors companies that foster a positive work culture and foster employee engagement and trust. Companies on the list are selected based on employee opinions and surveys. According to a recent survey of employees, 93 percent rated St. Jude as a “Great Place to Work,” and 98 percent expressed pride in working for the organization. The company has more than 4,300 employees and has been recognized as a “Great Place to Work For” by FORTUNE magazine.

The company is committed to providing a positive environment for its employees, and has implemented many initiatives to encourage these goals. The Blueprint Series, for example, features presentations from different areas of the hospital. Throughout the presentations, employees discuss how their teams advance the mission of St. Jude. They share personal stories and tips for improving the workplace. This initiative promotes communication and collaboration and encourages employees to share ideas.

Google

Google is a company that emphasizes character above all else. They seek out employees who are fun, team-oriented, innovative, and self-starters. While skills like design and coding can be taught, personality cannot. Google refers to their HR department as “People Operations,” which combines HR and raw science to keep the company top-performing. This proactive approach is reflected in the company’s 10 core values.

Google’s employees love the innovative spirit of the company. The company values innovation, and has established nine principles of innovation for its employees. Some examples of Google innovations include Heads-up, Google Newsflash, and Street View. Other innovations that are a highlight of Google’s work culture include the Google cafes. These cafes are designed to foster teamwork and collaboration by bringing employees together in the same office.

Microsoft

It’s no surprise that Microsoft is among the best companies to work for. Microsoft’s stock rose by 27% per year as of September 2018, the highest level in company history. Many employees enjoy their salaries and work-life balance. The company’s on-campus retail stores are full of treats and swag, and the company’s employee resource group promotes employee happiness. Employees rate Microsoft’s benefits package 4.4 out of 5 stars on Glassdoor. While the company has had some issues with the COVID-19 pandemic and work-life balance, many employees are happy with the benefits of their workplace and work-life balance.

The company is continually hiring, with about 15,000 to 20,000 new employees being hired each year externally and internally. Microsoft also receives millions of job applications per year, and offers many different kinds of work. Many employees work from home, but Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella, doesn’t like remote workers. Microsoft is hiring again, and the company is actively searching LinkedIn profiles for qualified employees.

Wegmans

For 25 consecutive years, Wegmans has ranked among Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For,” according to a new survey. The survey, conducted by global research firm Great Place to Work and consulting firm Fortune, gauges workplace culture by asking employees to rate 50 factors, including trust in managers, compensation, workplace fairness, and traits that promote innovation. In 2021, Wegmans was also named as one of the best companies to work for in the retail industry.

The company, founded in 1916, has more than 106 stores in the mid-Atlantic region and plans to expand into Delaware, Connecticut, and Washington, D.C. In addition, Wegmans is opening its first store in Connecticut, the state of Connecticut. In addition to Wegmans, other top employers on the list include Target Corp. and Publix Super Markets. Wegmans is on the list since 1998, and was included in the list again this year.
